Adamari López
Meet Adamari López
Adamari López is a Puerto Rican actress, model, dancer and TV host.
She started her career at the age of six participating in numerous TV soaps in her native country and later in Mexico, where she became a Latin superstar.
On March 22, 2005, López held a press conference in San Juan to announce that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She was expected to recover:
her cancer was caught very early at “stage one,” and it did not spread to other parts of her body.
She underwent cancer surgery, and in 2006 she was deemed cancer-free.
In 2006 Adamari was named one of People en Español’s “50 Most Beautiful People.”
Since 2008 Adamari has been the Hispanic spokesperson for Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives program.
Adamari and Save Lids to Save Lives
Breast cancer is an important issue for all women, no matter your heritage. And that is why Yoplait® is proud to have the support of our friend, Adamari López -
a woman with an unprecedented passion for raising breast cancer awareness within the Latino community. Though many may recognize her from her roles in the top
soap operas Camila and Amigas y Rivales, her most important role has been that of a breast cancer survivor.
For the past 13 years, Yoplait has been a passionate partner and supporter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, donating more than $30 million to the cause* And,
this is the fourth consecutive year that Adamari and Yoplait have joined together to make an impact in the Hispanic community. This year, as part of the Yoplait
Lids for Life Tour with Adamari López, she will be visiting eight cities around the country with the mission of spreading the importance of early detection among
Latinas and enlisting their support for the fight to end breast cancer by participating in Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives.
Why It Matters
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among Hispanic women, who also are more likely to be diagnosed in its later stages,
when it is more difficult to treat. † And although Latinas have lower breast cancer incidence and mortality rates compared to non-Latina White
women, they are less likely to have regular mammograms and follow-up for an abnormal mammogram. ‡
This year, Yoplait will also unveil various recipients from Hispanic communities that were chosen to receive special funding from the 2010
El Fondo Yoplait para la Mujer Hispana®. Yoplait devoted $250,000 of its total 2010 SLSL donation toward funding ideas that will allow
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Affiliates to develop new ways to raise breast health awareness and prevention in their Hispanic communities.
See if she's making an appearance near you, so you can meet her yourself!
