Her Story
Kristi Funk, MD is a nationally known, board-certified, breast cancer surgeon and founder of the Pink Lotus Breast Center,
a comprehensive and integrative breast center exclusively dedicated to the prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
Dr. Funk is an expert in minimally-invasive diagnostic and treatment methods for all types of breast disease and has helped
thousands of women through breast cancer treatment, including well-known celebrities like Sheryl Crow, who have turned to her for her expertise.
Dr. Funk was previously Director of Patient Education and a surgical breast specialist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Prior to joining the staff at Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Funk was a research assistant at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Baxter
Diagnostics. An outstanding investigator, Dr. Funk patented a surgical device used to increase operating room efficiency, assisted in the
development of a method for the rapid detection of cytomegalovirus and helped design an in vitro antimicrobial susceptibility test.
Dr. Funk has published articles and book chapters on topics in her field and is a sought after presenter. She has spoken before
multiple hospitals, national and international breast cancer conferences, medical societies, and community audiences.
Dr. Funk holds additional certification in advanced cardiac life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She is a member of
the American College of Surgeons, the ACS Oncology Group, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Medical Association
and the American Medical Women's Association.
Dr. Funk graduated with distinction from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California earning a bachelor's degree in psychology
before receiving her medical degree from the University of California Davis School of Medicine. She completed an internship and
residency in general surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and completed a surgical fellowship in breast oncology
at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She is a former Oxford University Scholar. Dr. Funk resides with her husband Andy Funk, and their
three triplet boys, Ethan, Justin and Sebastian, in Pacific Palisades, California.
